Obiang and Sakho
Totally random and possibly meaningless thing I noticed at the end during the post match celebrations and lap of honor was how Obiang was beaming and Sakho looked borderline pissed off. Now this may not mean anything much about Sakho - maybe it's his personality not to smile too often - but I think it says a lot about Obiang, who's a player I think has been unfairly ignored this season. He was clearly totally invested in us winning and he's someone I feel would leave everything on the pitch trying to get the win. Hope he doesn't leave in the summer. As for Sakho, I have no idea what to think. He's potentially an outstanding striker but you get the feeling his days are numbered.

Re: Obiang and Sakho
Sakho does seem to have a problem with ever cracking his face, but I wouldn't necessarily read too much into it. It must have been a frustrating season for him. He's going to have his work cut out to return to his best form, and he'll need to if he's going to get a look in next season, assuming we sign a new striker.

Obiang seems like a top bloke and it's hard not to feel for him. The two players he would naturally deputise for, Noble and Kouyate, have been outstanding and barely had any injuries or suspensions all season. I really hope we hold on to him - if we're in Europe next season we're going to need a strong squad.

AdamL, that sounds like something a bird would post. Sort yourself out.

Re: Obiang and Sakho
Sakho seems quite a driven bloke. Gets annoyed when things aren't going his way. Glad he scored last night. I think he scores in little spells. Yes he missed chances but he's not had a run of games lately. Carroll on the other hand people keep telling me is on top form and a great player........

Glad Obiang got on the pitch. What great memories for the players whether or not they get to play in our new home.

I am glad both Obiang and Tomkins got some game time last night.

It was good to see him in the tunnel before the game - wishing all the players well. Showed the right attitude as it must be so frustrating for him, as he is undoubtedly a top class player, who would have been a regular starter in any other season than this.

I think the way the midfield ended would be how I'd start. Obiang and kyoute sitting with noble pushed into a three. Obiang never gives the ball away and a always in position

Re: Obiang and Sakho
Noticed Sakho chatting with his mascot before the game, looked pretty cheery.

(Noticed Antonio was stoned-face in the same situation possibly because he was holding the hand of a girl that was almost as big as he was, or at least weighed as much.)

What happened off the pitch then, griffles?

He put a brick through the Manc's coach.

Re: Obiang and Sakho
I don't understand the limited opportunities Obiang gets. He was calm and assured the moment he came on. He's played that way each time I've seen him. Suppose it's just the fact Kouyate is undroppable (my MOTM) and Noble is in the form of his life. I hope he stays as he will be invaluable to us. Sakho I love but he is hit and miss in front of goal, not clinical enough. That said he had a blinding first half. Thought Carrol played well too, obviously should have scored but his hold up play was excellent. Not always a starter but again an invaluable part of the squad. He's proved me wrong this season with his hard work and an ability that's surprised me.

If Noble were to play with that superhuman determination and composure on a regular basis, he'd captain England.

Can't be arsed to start a new thread, or bump and old one, so I'm just going to randomly throw it in here.

Mark NOBLE was an absolute fucking hero last night, on and off the pitch.

That's all

Just watched the rerun & so glad Obiang & Tompkins both got on & snuffed out any Manc threat thereafter .
I too hope Obiang stays a long time , very useful signing along with the brilliant Antonio .
We were all pretty nervous about the RB spot tonight & to see him bombing forwards again was wicked .
If only Pedro had come on at halftime in the cup game .
Thankyou to the old girl for some unbeatable memories .

Re: Obiang and Sakho
The same Sakho wondering around taking in the atmosphere with his selfie stick? Looked happy enough to me (albeit watching on TV).

People read too much into things.

That said, if we want to really kick on both Sakho and Carroll are not the answer. Should have been out of sight last night and they missed two huge chances between them.

Re: Obiang and Sakho
I think Sakho is just a moody bugger.

He doesn't seem to smile a lot, instead he seems to have a perpetual scowl on his face.

Not sure he even smiled after he scored did he?

FFS...he scored a great goal...

If he hadn't been injured for 2+ months he'd have had a lot more...

Really gave ManU defence lots of problems...

@wtf,

That's good to hear - maybe I just caught a couple of shots of him at a bad time. Certainly would like him to stay if we can get the best out of him.

TBH after that strop Sakho threw or being dropped, i lost a little respect for him.
thinks he's better than he is and has not done enough to warrant a starting place week in, week out IMO.

average striker who wants to remember where he was 2 years ago
